Help build the future of AI at Zypp

At Zypp, we believe we're living in one of the most exciting times in our industry. That's why we're building solutions that help our clients take the next step into the future. And we're looking for engineers who want to build that future with us.

As an AI Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and scaling AI-driven applications and systems that create value for our own Agent Platform, our clients, and internal processes. You’ll primarily work on our own solutions, while also translating client needs into technical challenges, architectural decisions, and concrete AI Agent solutions.

This role is all about applied AI Engineering: putting LLMs, AI agents, RAG, model evaluation, and production-ready AI systems into practice. We’re not looking for an academic ML researcher, but for a strong engineer who understands how to build reliable, manageable, and scalable AI solutions that work in real software products.

What will you do?

  • Design and build scalable AI-driven applications, including AI agents, RAG solutions, context management, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Translate client needs and business requirements into technical AI solutions and architectural decisions.
  • Integrate LLMs, tools, APIs, MCPs, databases, and existing software processes. We call this Data & Context for Agents.
  • Design data and retrieval processes for AI applications, taking into account batch and live integrations, upserts, and webhooks.
  • Contribute to the development of our own Agent Platform, ensuring solutions are reliable, manageable, and scalable.
  • Apply AI-assisted Engineering to make the software development process smarter and more efficient.
  • Maintain high code quality through code reviews, testing strategies, and development best practices.
  • Experiment with new AI techniques and turn them into practical applications, such as Agent Memory.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Actively contribute to technical decisions, system design, and the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.

Who are you?

  • You have a strong engineering mindset, a solid understanding of software engineering principles, and experience with Python, SQL, and backend development.
  • You have proven experience building and deploying AI solutions to production, along with strong knowledge of LLMs, AI agents, RAG, and agentic workflows.
  • You understand the importance of good system design, software architecture, API design, and solid data infrastructure.
  • You know how to build reliable, manageable, and scalable AI solutions, with a strong focus on code quality, testing, evaluations, and monitoring.
  • You’re familiar with cloud environments, modern development processes, and AI-assisted Engineering.
  • You take end-to-end ownership of solutions, can make independent technical decisions, and hold yourself to high quality standards.
  • You actively follow developments in AI Engineering, have a genuine interest in the field, and are eager to keep learning.
  • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, enjoy sharing knowledge, and like working closely with the team at the office.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.

Technologies and tools you’ll work with

At Zypp, we work with modern technologies and tools. We don’t expect you to know everything already, but we do expect a strong technical foundation and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.

  • Backend & databases: Python, SQL, FastAPI, Pydantic, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Supabase.
  • AI & LLMs: OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
  • AI Agents & RAG: Pydantic AI, tool calling, agentic workflows, embeddings, vector databases, and context management.
  • Integrations: APIs, MCP, FastMCP, webhooks, and batch and live integrations.
  • Cloud & development: Azure, Docker, Terraform, GitHub, CI/CD, and testing.
  • AI-assisted Engineering: Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and similar tools.

  • A young, innovative team with strong technical expertise. You’ll work alongside colleagues who are passionate about technology and continuously want to learn and improve.
  • A modern workplace in the heart of Rotterdam. Our office is located at the CIC Innovation Hub, surrounded by more than 200 startups and scale-ups.
  • All the benefits of a mature startup. No unnecessary hierarchy, short communication lines, fast iterations, and plenty of room for your own ideas and feedback. And we actually act on them.
  • Make a real impact. The solutions you build are intended for clients who are waiting for them and are eager to use them. You’ll see the direct impact of your work.
  • A lot of trust and responsibility. You’ll have the freedom to make technical decisions, take initiative, and take ownership of your work.
  • Room to grow. Everyone who joins Zypp grows not only technically, but also in communication, collaboration, and personal development.
