Zypp & Auke: Looking back at year one
It's already over a year ago that I joined Zypp. I wanted the room to grow as a professional by working on interesting assignments, I wanted to build useful products that resulted in real problems being solved, and I wanted to work in a friendly but serious culture. I thought I'd find all those things at Zypp, and it turned out I was right!
What motivated you to join Zypp?
At the start of 2025 I had been working for a year, and I was thinking a lot about exactly what I wanted to do and how I wanted to develop. I liked the job I had at the time, but I decided that I needed a change to get where I wanted to go. When I found Zypp, I was quickly convinced it was the place for me. They were friendly, enthusiastic about their work, and they really seemed to know their stuff. Luckily, they thought it was the right place for me as well!
What does a typical workday look like for you?
I try to get all of my meetings out of the way in the mornings. I am a strong believer in keeping meetings as short and small as possible. After that, I try to work on smaller things before lunch, so I can spend my afternoon getting lost in a bigger issue. However, this might be more of an ideal than a typical day: we work on various projects at a time, so the structure of a day can change quite a bit.
How would you describe working at Zypp?
Interesting, varied, and the good kind of busy. We’re generally working on multiple assignments at once, so the work can change quite a bit from week to week, but it’s more than that. As a small company, we can (and must!) respond quickly to technological improvements and changes in the market, and our focus and way of working has certainly evolved over the past year. It’s nice to be part of this growth, we’re all going through this development together.
Can you share a challenge you have faced in your role and how you overcame it?
There’s a lot of freedom and independence at Zypp, and I’m naturally a quite chaotic person. That combination can be difficult, especially when I have to coordinate projects and people. This is something I am actively trying to improve, and my colleagues support me in that process.
Are there any specific projects or accomplishments that you are particularly proud of?
I greatly enjoy our collaboration with Reworc. We work closely together on their platform, and combining our different areas of expertise really helps the project move forward.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Zypp?
First of all, you need to be motivated and responsible. We are not a company that tries to bill our clients for as many hours as we can while doing as little as possible, we aim to excel. Secondly, I think you need to be adaptive and open to innovation, as mentioned above. Finally, you need to be ready to collaborate. We’re not salesmen, but in any given week you’ll probably be in contact with at least one client and working with several colleagues. You can’t hide behind a screen all day every day, you need to be open and communicative.
If that sounds like you: stop considering, start applying. We’re hiring right now!
